從Matt Cutts的說明中可以了解Google對區域國碼的網域名稱確實有地區的屬性價值和權重，請不要用自己的想像以為這些奇特冷門國碼的網域就可以代表自己所要的目的。例如不要以為.fm是代表調頻電台，事實上它是代表西太平洋島國密克羅尼西亞聯邦這個國家。如果大部分的.fm網站都是與密克羅尼西亞有關，那麼你的.fm網站將不容易在電台相關的搜尋中有好的排名。.tv則是一個反例，.tv是吐瓦魯這個國家的網域代碼，但由於全世界許多.tv網站都是與電視相關的網站，所以Google會將.tv視為是一般頂層的網域。

在這些奇特冷門的國家地區網域中.cc是台灣比較熟悉的網域，主要應該是與無名小站www.wretch.cc的崛起有關。.cc是科科斯（基林）群島（Cocos (Keeling) Islands）的網域代碼。如果您不是要建構與科科斯群島有關的網站最好不要選擇.cc的網域，因為這不僅會困擾網友也會讓自己在Google上處於劣勢，除非您有自信可以像無名小站那樣強勢地崛起。

雖然網路世界全球暢行無阻，但國家地區代碼的網域也明顯地區隔出當地的自主權和特殊性，尤其是Google也將國家地區代碼的網域當成其搜尋檢索網站的參考時，網站的所有或經營者更須注意這個部分在其SEO或網路行銷上的影響。

需特別提醒的是，國家地區的網域只是Google考量網站排名的一項參考而已，請不要以為選擇了.jp的網域名稱您的網站就可以在日本的Google擁有很好的搜尋排名。網站排名的高低和網站的架構、內容、編碼、連結...許許多多的因素有關，國家地區的網域名稱不會是Google決定網站排名的唯一因素。
事實上除了考量Google對國家地區網域可能會有的影響外，公司企業註冊國外當地國碼的網域名稱也有宣示插旗當地市場的意味。若您的公司名稱是MyCompany，註冊使用MyCompany.com.sg的新加坡網域名稱就會像是在新加坡開的分公司，而使用次網域的sg.MyCompany.com或是次目錄的MyCompany.com/sg則像是在總公司的新加坡市場處。此外，網域名稱也是商標在網路上的延伸，重視品牌形象和行銷的企業會在其市場所在國家註冊該品牌名稱的當地網域，這不僅可以積極地在當地市場為品牌搶灘，消極上也可以保護品牌以免此品牌在該國的網域名稱被他人搶走。試想，如果知名運動品牌耐X的台灣網域被其競爭對手愛X達拿走的話，對耐X來說這會是何等嚴重的大事。
